A very small and uneventful adoption update

Today I talked to Oasis to check up on our home study approval through Arizona (there are only 2 states that require you to be approved in your state first for international adoption, and we live in one).  They called the courts to check on it, and found out the court wrote them a letter requesting more information about our pool fence, and possibly other things but since Oasis hasn't gotten they letter yet, they aren't sure.  We have a pool net, but the law is written that you need a pool fence, because it was written before nets came out.  We have lots of reasons for using a pool net instead of a fence, so we wrote a letter to the courts asking them to approve our net since the goal is to have a safe pool, and we do.  I'm really praying they will accept it, as the last thing I want to do is spend money on a fence we don't need, since we do have a safe pool.  We'd appreciate your prayers in that as well.

On to happier news.....

My friend Stephanie that I used to teach with came by with a very special gift today.  Before I tell you what it is, I'll tell you a fun story about Stephanie.  She and I taught at Desert Horizon Elementary School and had a lot of fun being silly together.  We would hide funny things in each other's rooms to find at random times.  One time I stuck a huge wooden bird that was on a stick in her library center.  Her kids loved him and they named him Diego.  Last I talked to her, Diego still graced her with his presence.  Anyhow, back to our special gift....  Stephanie made Ramya a quilt that matches the girl's room perfectly.  It is absolutely beautiful and it's so nice to start collecting things for Ramya, as it makes it feel much more real.  Thank you Stephanie (and Stephanie, if you are reading this, I forgot to ask you how Diego is doing ;))!!

Who knew a Christmas tree box would do all this?

It has been really hard to get Madi to want to practice walking.  She was struggling with it and was giving up, not really trying because it was hard.  She just could not quite figure it out.  I think part of the problem was that she was still trying to shuffle, like she did in her stander.  We'd been practicing on and off, but not as much as we should have been, as I didn't want to push her.  Yesterday I decided to put her chair out of sight and just tell her it was time to work on walking.  She and I practiced quite a bit, and then she asked to get in the Christmas tree box.  Conner had been playing in it and she wanted a turn.  I put her in and noticed that she had an easier time with walking.  She was taking a few steps on her own, without any help/support.  It's kind of crazy too because I had been fighting and fighting to not get a fake tree.  Finally I gave in this year and we bought one from Michaels.  Who would have guessed that God would have a plan for that silly box?  I called Tami, her physical therapist, and told her about it so she could see her walk in it during her session today (I had to help in Conner's class so my mom was going to be here with her for therapy).  Tami worked with her again today in it and I came home to this....

I had been down the last few days because I felt like I was failing at helping her walk and I did not know what else to try.  Who would have known God would give us such a simple answer!  I am so very proud of my little girl.  It is like the light bulb finally went off for her, and now she understands how to move her body to make walking work.  She is such a smart little cookie!  Now we are faced with the task of trying to figure out how to make her something like the box out of PVC pipe, wood, hand railing, or something of the sort so that she can use it to practice once this box falls apart (which it is quickly doing).  With my dad's help, though, we'll figure it out.  Way to go Madi!

The most amazing Christmas gift in the world

Today we received the most amazing Christmas gift in the world.  It is exactly what I asked for and couldn't be more perfect.  Our time at the hospital has come to a close and we get to go home!!  I am waiting to be discharged, but it shouldn't be more than 30 minutes or so now.  I cannot wait to have have my family back together again!  I am so thankful my angel is cleared and made it through everything safely.  God is good!
